Car Run in Ralley

1.    Special car built by Lamborghini chief mechanic Bob Wallace who thought that Lamborghini cars should be less about comfort and more about speed.
2.    So he took a Espada body, stiffened it, put a rollcage on it and mounted the engine further back in order to achieve a better balance.
3.    Rolling on Miura wheels with Michelin XWX tires with ventilated disc brakes, the Jarama Rally was further "lightened" by cutting away sections of the floorpan and replacing them with aluminum.
4.    Instead of glass, Wallace used plexiglass which was lighter.
5.    The need result was a 300 kg reduction of weight.

Review | Lamborghini Islero S

LAMBORGHINI ISLERO S (1968) REVIEW

The Islero GT is generally agreed to be the company’s hidden gem. Only 226 were built including 100 of the powerful “S” editions and the model was named after the legendary bull that killed Manolete, the best matador in the world. Ferruccio Lamborghini himself even drove an Islero.

The Islero is widely considered to be more desirable. Once again carrying its original registration YLR11G, this car was driven by Sir Roger Moore in the 1970 cult thriller, “The Man Who Haunted Himself.” It was Moore’s last movie before taking over from Sean Connery for seven James Bond movies, and he considers it his best work. He played the dual role of a conservative city businessman and his doppelganger, a suave Bond-like figure, who drove this car. It was positioned as a powerful representation of the hero’s alter ego throughout the movie, including the climactic chase.

Moore was recently reunited with this Islero in Knightsbridge and autographed the sun visor, the original driver’s handbook and a special plaque. These come with the car, along with an impressive collection of documents, including the original factory invoice, a photographic record of the restoration and a letter from Valentino Balboni, the legendary Lamborghini test driver, confirming this is the actual movie car.

Review | Lamborghini Espada

LAMBORGHINI ESPADA (1968 - 1978) MODEL REVIEW

The Lamborghini was a grand tourer brought out in 1968 with a V12 engine. There was a void in the four seater sportscar range and Ferruccio Lamborghini wanted a four seater luxury cruiser. So, the Espada was born with many innovative features like the automatic transmission to handle the powerful engine's torque.
From 1968 to 1978 three variants were produced with vast improvements in the interior and some alterations to empower the engine. It was priced at $33,900 when first introduced to the car world and is now available for $ 15000 - $ 30,700.
The final model in 1978 was excellent and drew much interest and admiration from car lovers. A total of 1217 units were produced before it was halted with people still nursing a hope that it will come back into production. The few that are on the road still attract stares and astonished gapes.

Reviews | Lamborghini Miura SV

LAMBORGHINI MIURA SV REVIEWS

The 1965 Turin Motor Show marked the start of a supercar revolution. Tucked away on the stand of fledgling Lamborghini Automobili S.p.A was an exhibit that tore up the sports car rulebook.

In an age when performance cars had their engines at the front, Lamborghini unveiled a tightly formed chassis that had a mighty V12 mounted centrally with the fuel tank at the front, ahead of the two-seat cabin. Even though it was shown as a bare monocoque with no body, this prototype, christened the P400, attracted lots of attention.

Yet the showstopper nearly didn’t see the light of day. Ferruccio Lamborghini wanted his cars to be powerful yet sedate grand tourers, so engineers worked on the radical P400 after hours in the hope of convincing the man in charge that this car deserved a chance.

But the bare chassis attracted so much acclaim at the show that Lamborghini didn’t hesitate to give it the green light. He turned to coachbuilder Bertone to design a body and the prototype was finished days before 1966’s Geneva Motor Show. While the chassis raised eyebrows in Turin, the fully clothed P400 caused jaws to drop in Switzerland.

The beautiful lines made a star of 25-year-old designer Marcello Gandini and had customers beating a path to Lamborghini’s door. The following year, the production car arrived: it was called Miura after a fearsome fighting bull, had a 3.9-litre 345bhp V12 and was an instant hit.

But this advanced car wasn’t perfect. Although the mighty V12 was mounted transversely, space inside was tight. Early cars suffered from stifling cockpit temperatures, while nose lift at high speed was an alarming handling characteristic. With a full fuel load it wasn’t too bad, but as the thirsty V12 drained the front-mounted petrol tank the weight distribution changed and the car became a handful.

A small chin spoiler partly solved this issue, while legend has it that from car number 125 in the production run onwards, the gauge of the chassis metal was increased to improve chassis rigidity. From car 200 on, a front cross member was added, while the beautiful curved windscreen became a stressed member of the chassis.

This constant on-the-hoof development wasn’t unusual, but in 1968 a revised model arrived: the Miura S. It had chrome rings around the headlamps and prominent S badges, but crucially delivered an extra 20bhp. Wider tyres and revised suspension gave it better handling, too.

Then in 1971, the SV became the fastest and most revered Miura of all. Lamborghini ditched the ‘eyelashes’ around the headlamps of earlier models, while under the skin there was a limited-slip differential and dry sump lubrication, plus the V12 engine was tuned to 380bhp.

The stunning example in our pictures is one of just seven original right-hand-drive SVs. It’s cared for by Terry Hoyle – founder of Hoyle-Fox Classics. In an illustrious 40-year career, Terry has worked on and driven some of the most exotic race and road cars in the world, but he assures us he would have a Miura in his dream garage – quite a compliment.

Clambering into the cosy cockpit with him, we find it difficult not to be amazed by this car. The view out of the curved screen is the stuff of dreams, and when glancing back through the letterbox glass at the rear, you’re greeted by a bank of carburettors.

The soundtrack under acceleration is mechanical yet joyous and even by modern standards the SV feels quick; in its day, this car could top 172mph.

Only 150 SVs were ever produced, so today they command eye-watering prices approaching the £1million mark. But the Miura is arguably the father of the modern-day supercar and one of the most beautiful cars ever built.

BHP : 380bhp
Cooling : Liquid
GearBox : 5 speed
Top Speed : 276 Kmph (172 Mph)

Review | Lamborghini 400GT 2+2

LAMBORGHINI 400GT 2+2 REVIEW

In 1966 the four-liter engine was available in the front-engined Lamborghini as optional equipment. This version became known as the 400 GT. A few examples were built before it was replaced by the 400 GT 2+2. The two-plus-two configuration made the supercar a little more practical, allowing room for additional occupants in the rear seats. The design of the 2+2 varied slightly from the 400 GT. The 2+2 was constructed of steel while the 400 GT used aluminum. The most distinguishable difference was the double-oval headlights in the front of the 2+2.

In 1966 a Lamborghini 400 GT Monza prototype was created that carried the mechanical components of Lamborghini with styling reminiscent of Ferrari's legendary 250 GTO series. The design was handled by Neri & Bonacini and was shown to the public at the 1966 Barcelona Motor Show. It was sold to a wealthy Spanish individual who used the vehicle as a daily driver. It was put into storage in the early 1970's with the odometer reading just 7,000 km's. It remained in possession of the family until the owner's death in the mid-2000's. Bonham's Auction had the pleasure of offering the vehicle up for auction at the 2005 London Olympia sale where it was sold for $315,000.

Features:

cc : 4000cc
Year of Manufacture : 1967
Number of Cylinders : 12
Engine : V-12
BHP : 320bhp
Price(EURO) : 155000 t0 175000 (INR Rs. 1,16,25,000 - Rs. 1,31,25,000)

Specification:

320 bhp (DIN), a 3,929 cc V-12 engine with dual overhead camshafts per cylinder bank, six Weber twin choke carburettors, five-speed manual gearbox, four-wheel independent suspension with double wishbones, coil springs and anti-roll bars front and rear, and four-wheel, vacuum-assisted Girling hydraulic disc brakes. 4.0-litre, V-12 engine and new smoother and quieter Lamborghini-produced five-speed gearbox with larger passenger accommodation.

It's one of the Sports car.

Exterior:

The new Veneno brings one of the most extreme exterior designs we have seen on any supercar coming from Sant’Agata Bolognese. While rumors suggested it will be based on the Aventador, it turns out the new Veneno has nothing in common with the previous supercar.

The car’s front features a large aerodynamic wing with huge channels that allows the air to arrive in the front hood, front of the windshield and the front wheels. A first on a Lamborghini model are those Y-shaped angular headlamps that run deep into the fenders and the scissor doors.

The rear lights also feature a Y-shaped design, while the engine cover features six wedge-shaped openings that help cooling the V-12 beast.

Interior:

Uses of carbon fiber continues on the interior where Lamborghini lets the carbon-fiber monocoque remain visible in the area of the central tunnel and the sills. The new Veneno is equipped with two lightweight bucket seats made from Lamborghini’s patented Forged Composite, and the cockpit will be made in woven carbon-fiber.

The instrument panel has been completely redesigned and features aggressive graphics and some additional features, like the G-meter, which provides all necessary information to the driver for control of the car.

Driving:

The three lucky owners of the Veneno will get an improved version of the 6.5 liter V-12 engine found in the Aventador.

The engine receives enlarged intake paths, optimized thermodynamics, a slightly higher rated rpm and an exhaust system with even lower back pressure that all add up to an output of 740 horsepower.

The new Veneno is also 275 pounds lighter than the Aventador, so its performance numbers are quite stunning: 0 to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 354 mph.

The engine is mated to an ISR manual gearbox and permanent all-wheel drive - all specifically adjusted to meet the demands of the Veneno.
